Join this incredible race, half way across the Atlantic to St Helena Island.
It’s TWICE the length of the Fastnet! – a massive Ocean race of 1,200 nautical miles across the South Atlantic, from Cape Town to St Helena. The race is run every two years and attracts dedicated, high performance boats and crews from far and wide. Wavy previously WON the prestigious trophy with “Black Cat” – and we are delighted that this year, Wavy will be reunited with this fabulous boat for the race…. You'll be pushing "Black Cat" to the maximum . The trip starts with a prep week where you will be practicing, coming together as a team and getting yourself mentally ready for the big trip ahead. We expect the race to take around 2 weeks, working in watches and pushing Black Cat every minute of the day and night - this is a hands-on racing experience so don't expect any BBQs or fishing off the stern - it will be dried food and adrenaline all the way! The race was originally scheduled for December 2021, but has been postponed until the airport at St Helena reopens - we ESTIMATE the race will now start in April 2022, but the exact date is subject to confirmation by RCYC and St Helena. Register your interest today at no charge / no commitment to have an option on places. Strictly limited places. Given the nature of the race, this is suitable for persons with some previous sailing experience - if you want to take a more leisurely trip, why not sail back from St Helena to Cape Town, late April - same boat, same Skipper just not competitively racing,
