A hugely experienced Skipper and RYA Yachtmaster Examiner who has sailed almost every ocean of the world. Jim has led expeditions to some of the remotest places in the world, including the Galapagos, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Tasmania. He's vast experience, is not only on but also under water, as a Scuba Diving Instructor, delivering expeditions to the Great Barrier Reef, Oceania and Asia.

Jim has a long history of successful race campaigns. He served as skipper for the 09-10 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, and has competed in five Sydney to Hobart races, two Fastnet races, Round Britain and Ireland Race and many other offshore race events.

Emily grew up in Somerset, England and has spent the last 18 years sailing professionally, leading crews on unforgettable ocean adventures. From skippering Gipsy Moth IV—Sir Francis Chichester’s legendary round-the-world yacht—to training Clipper Round The World crews, Emily has a wealth of experience navigating the world’s most incredible and remote destinations.

With an MCA Master 200 unlimited ticket and an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor qualification, Emily has shared her expertise with thousands of sailors, from novices to seasoned adventurers. Her fervent belief in making sailing accessible, enjoyable, and truly transformative is at the core of her work.

Nigel Parry is one of the most experienced offshore sailors you'll find, multiple Atlantic and Pacific crossings, and a professional sailing career stretching back to 1994. An RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and Examiner, Nigel has taught and skippered across Europe, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, and the United States. He spent a decade in Kiel preparing British military personnel for offshore passage-making. Currently Chief Instructor for a school operating in the Baltic Sea, Nigel knows these waters intimately.

Marlon Jones skippers our St Helena expedition. With years of instructor experience under his belt, and his calm, methodical approach he is a natural teacher and leader — equally at home coaching complete beginners as guiding experienced sailors on this amazing adventure.

Before taking on the 2022 Golden Globe Race, Guy had already built an extensive and proven sailing career. 

He had crossed the Atlantic multiple times, skippered Dare to Lead in the 2019–20 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, and undertaken countless sailing adventures—far too many to list here.

He is also a wonderfully calm and patient person who is a joy to sail with. 

Fred Conradie is a Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor who has run RYA Training Centres for many years, training generations of sailors in seamanship and offshore passage-making. His own sailing career spans the Mediterranean, a Round Britain expedition, and the demanding Cape Town to St Helena ocean passage. Calm and clear-headed under pressure, Fred has a gift for making challenging waters feel approachable, whatever a guest's prior experience.
