Welcome to Wavysail Ocean adventures. We organise tailor-made expeditions and sailing adventures all over the world. We have a maximum of six places on each trip with a focus on hands-on sailing experience, led by some of the world's most experienced skippers.
This means you will have lots of time to learn and we have plenty of space to adapt each trip to the wishes of the group. No matter if you have lots of experience, or none at all we will look after you. Whatever your specific needs, because we contact every crew member before the trip, we will adapt things to ensure you get everything you want out of the trip.
Wavysail was created by Dave (Wavy) Immelman and Andrew Cowen who met while sailing in 2018. They felt Ocean adventure should be open to everyone and set up Wavysail during Covid lockdown to create exceptional, bespoke sailing adventures with the world's most experienced skippers. David Immelman, known to everyone as "Wavy", is co-founder and chief Skipper at Wavysail – He was born and raised around Cape Town and has been sailing since the age of 5.
Since then, he has amassed over 500,000 miles of ocean sailing, including over 40 Atlantic crossings.
He is a highly respected RYA instructor with many years of teaching.
A professional racing skipper, including Skipper of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race ‘19/’20 edition as well as winning the Governors cup on “Black Cat”

A hugely experienced Skipper and RYA Yachtmaster Examiner who has sailed almost every ocean of the world, leading expeditions to some of the remotest places including the Galapagos, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Tasmania. Jim is experienced, not only on, but also under water, as a Scuba Diving Instructor delivering expeditions to the Great Barrier Reef, Oceania and Asia.
Jim has a long history of successful race campaigns including skipper for the 09-10 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, competed in five Sydney to Hobart races, two Fastnet races, Round Britain and Ireland Race and many other offshore race events.

Guy already had long and proven sailing experience before embarking on the Golden Globe Race 2022, having crossed the Atlantic several times, skippered "Dare to Lead" in the 19/20 edition of the Clipper Round the world yacht race and numerous sailing adventures, far more than we can recount here.
He is also a wonderfully calm and patient person who is a joy to sail with.
Role
We have trips ranging from one week right up to seven weeks. These cover relaxing coastal cruises in Croatia up to epic, Atlantic sailing expeditions to Saint Helena island. All our trips are led by exceptionally experienced skippers on comfortable, well-equipped yachts. We contact you before each trip to adapt to your specific needs so we build the itinerary around you.
