Sailing adventures tailored-made for you

OUR STORY

A passion for the open ocean

Driven by a passion for the open ocean, Wavysail Ocean Adventures are tailor-made sailing adventures all over the world. With a maximum of six places on each trip, we focus on providing hands-on sailing experiences led by some of the world's most experienced skippers.

This approach ensures you have time to learn, and we have the flexibility to tailor each trip to the wishes of the group. Whether you have extensive sailing experience or none at all, we will look after you. By contacting every crew member before the trip, we adapt the itinerary to ensure you get everything you want out of the adventure.

Wavysail was created by Dave (Wavy) Immelman and Andrew Cowen, who met while sailing in 2018. They wanted sailing adventures to be accessible to everyone and set up Wavysail during the COVID lockdown to create exceptional, bespoke sailing adventures with the world's most experienced skippers.

Small groups, amazing destinations, and incredible ocean experiences await you.

Sustainable Sailing

WavySail Co2 footprint measurement

We take our crews to some of the most fragile and least visited eco-systems in the world and we believe passionately that it is our duty to lead the way in reducing the environmental impact of sailing.

Sadly, sailing is not very environmentally friendly - a 10-day trip might emit over a ton of Co2, and sailing yachts are frequently built out of polluting, non-recyclable materials such as Fibre Glass.

To drive change, we developed a practical system to properly measure our Co2 footprint, based on four elements:-

  1. Fossil Fuel consumption, such as gas and diesel

  2. Food consumed on board

  3. Marina services, such as being plugged into shore power

  4. Accommodation, if it is part of the trip itself

We worked with a globally recognised expert in sustainable impact measurement to accomplish this, and became the first sailing operator in the world to publish the Co2 footprint of all our trips on our website.

We are now encouraging other sailing operators to follow our lead and to adopt an approach that brings greater transparency to the environmental impact of sailing so that we can all work to reduce it.

However, we didn't feel that this was not enough.

We are also in the process of building the world's lowest environmental impact adventure sailing yacht through our sister company “Expedition Zero”. This yacht design will reduce the ecological impact of expedition sailing by 90%, using brand-new materials and the latest technology. Our first yacht will be in the water in 2025 and you can be part of our exciting journey by joining the “Expedition Club”.
