Your opportunity to sail for free and help us bring Ocean adventure to life
Background to Wavysail
Wavysail is a successful, award-winning sailing business. Created in 2020, Wavysail offers small group, big ocean adventures with the world’s leading skippers. No prior skills are required for most of our trips – but the experience gained will be phenomenal and last a lifetime!
Each Wavysail trip is highly personalised to the meet the needs of our guest crews, offering plenty of ‘hands-on’ sailing time. Our world-class skippers, who have led major ocean races such as the Cape to Rio and the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, bring years of experience, captivating stories and an un-wavering passion for life at sea.
Wavysail has a strong social and environmental mission – our “Open Oceans” programme gives fully funded sailing places to those without the confidence or ability to otherwise join trips like ours and we were the first commercial sailing operator worldwide to measure the CO2 footprint of all our sailing adventures and publish this on our site.
In 2026 we will be taking delivery of an exciting yacht, built by our sister company, “ExpeditionZero”. This will be the world’s first “net zero” expedition sailing yacht, and we’ll use it to embark on an incredible series of sailing adventures, including a voyage through the NorthWest Passage, hugely increasing the range of adventures we offer and signalling the arrival of truly sustainable ocean expedition sailing.
The Opportunity & Scope of Role
To support our expansion, we are looking for a content creator to take charge of our social channels including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube shorts and Tik Tok with several posts per week, gaining reach through organic means, such as sharing content on relevant groups and good use of hashtags as well as use of Google / Facebook Ads and Sponsored content, as appropriate.
We'll have lots of great content coming from the trips, including images and video. You will use this content to create engaging and relevant campaigns, that bring the magic of off-shore adventure sailing to life, with a goal of building and inspiring the community, and ultimately to encourage people to join our expeditions. More than that, you’ll get the chance to jump on any of our trips and create your own content – interviewing the crew, capturing the images or video that will inspire people.
Skills & Experience Required
The role will suit a creative person with a real flair for creating engaging content. You will be passionate about travel and especially sailing and have excellent communication skills to bring this to life on social channels.
You will already be familiar with Meta and Instagram and be an expert in how to tag, share and create content that counts. You will understand google and google analytics and have ideas on how to ensure we turn up ‘first in search’.
You will be strong on creative development and will be able to put fabulous visual content together using tools such as Canva or other video / visual editing tools, which will give us a professional and compelling presence across all channels.
We use AI as a helpful tool, but believe our base content should be our own … That means, wherever possible we use real images, ideally taken on our own trips and contain authentic, written content created by you.
Who are we looking for?
You will be energetic and have a real passion for travel. You may or may not be a keen sailor already, but the idea of life at sea will be something that inspires and excites you. You will definitely have a spirit of adventure and a desire to explore the world’s open spaces.
You understand that customer service and experience is at the heart of every good business and will go and beyond to ensure that every customer interaction leaves a positive impression.
You enjoy being part of a small team and are comfortable to take initiative and responsibility for delivery to a high level. You will be excited to join a growing adventure travel business and thrive on the constant change.
What's it like working for us?
We are friendly, open and love what we do. It’s an environment where your thoughts and ideas will be encouraged. We have a clear vision of what we do and where we are going, but how we get there will be an exciting, challenging (sometimes, no doubt difficult!) and rewarding journey for the right candidate.
Hours & Place of Work
The role requires around 15 hours per week of content creation, (2-3 hours per day, but can be flexible in how this is spaced through the week) plus the desire and flexibility to join numerous sailing adventures around the world. The role reports to the Marketing Director, who is UK based and the role can be remote. (indeed, we expect you to be working from our yachts sometimes!)
What We Offer
- Remuneration: £14.50 per hour, based on 15-hours per week on a Freelance contract
- FREE passage on Wavysail Trips as Media crew: You will be eligible (and encouraged!) to join any Wavysail Ocean adventures, subject to availability after completing a 3-month trial period. This will include joining the launch and first passages on the new Expedition Zero yacht.

1) Check out our website & Socials (which we hope you will make even better!)
2) Prepare a 1 minute video, or a social post for us that demonstrates your passion for our kind of sailing and ability to tell engaging stories.
