Our new crew have been hard at work, preparing for the adventure of a lifetime before our 45 day expedition from Cape Town to St Helena Island. Setting off on any Ocean voyage requires good preparation, which is why we always bring our crew together for a 'prep week' before setting off. They get to know each other, the skipper and "Aurora", which will be their home for the next 6 weeks.

There is a huge amount to do  - passage planning, rig checking, menu planning and, of course making sure all the systems on the boat are in good order - we get the crew involved in all of it...Our trips are always 'hands-on'.

Here, Skipper Nick shows the crew how to check the engine on board Aurora. Of course, we plan to sail most of the time - but you definitely want to know the engine will start as and when required...

Soon it will be time for the off and what a great adventure it will be. Keep checking back and you can follow their progress...of course, next time, it could be you. Small groups, Big Ocean adventures. No experience needed.
